See Suspect in Columbia, TN double homicide speaks from jail

What on earth makes people snap like that? I just can't fathom it.

Very sad like all of these stories.

 

You'll never be able to fathom it until you're in that same situation, have the same feelings (or maybe lack of feelings) etc.

 

I never understood how someone could take their own life. Until one day (long ago) when I was going through some stuff. Normal life crap that lots of people go through. On this particular day I was extra down. It was very much a struggle to not leave work and do something "stupid". I basically forced myself to stay around people to keep a tenuous grip on life. But yeah after that day I now know. Basically lots of mental and emotional anguish/pain coupled with stress and a whole lot of merry go round in the headspace.

I saw something about that this morning on the cerebral tackle YouTube channel. The Jerry Springer show of bass fishing YouTube channels.

 

I've known about this for awhile, but I wasn't going to sensationalize it or post about it.

 

I knew the guy.  We've met at ICAST.  I've had meetings with him.

 

I also know John Crews (Missile Baits Founder) quite well.  Just look at all the videos of him on the Bassresource channel.  I was just with John a few weeks ago.

 

Suffice to say, everyone in the industry is stunned, with a huge outpouring to John and his team.  John said to me in a text:

John is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.  Terrible thing to happen.

Can’t help where a guy works. People from all walks of life and many different occupations go off the deep end every day. I really wish that the Jerry Springer show of bass fishing and would have left Missile Bait Co out of it. It’s not really germane to the conversation. Just a tragedy all the way around.

My daughter and I just attended a concert this past Saturday, on Sunday I read a local news story about a 50 year old man who left the same concert and went missing. It turns out he tragically jumped in front of a semi truck on a 45 mph road that night killing himself. As @volzfan59 said people go off the deep end and unless you are/were extremely close to the person none of us will probably ever understand why.

Weird and tragic for all involved. 

Yep, sad situation for sure.  I thought his jailhouse interview was weird and he was chillingly calm.

Mental illness, left untreated, can be fatal. Sometimes for others. Very sad situation.
