My choice would be a Loomis GLX MBR 843 or 844 C

thanks, and do you own one? would you consider the action to be good for all-around applications like from plastics to cranks?

Loomis GLX MBR783.  I own 2 and if i could have only one rod this would be the one.

What Triton said, either that one or the CR722 in GLX, depending on the length you prefer for what you want to use it for. The 783 is better all around, but I prefer the 722 for worming.

Because of the weight of the reel (9.5oz almost 10oz filled) I would try and find a custom rod builder in the OC area, and have a rod built for the reel and you. With a budget in your range you should be able to have one heck of a rod built to your needs.

Just a thought....

Tight Lines!!!

Never thought I'd say 10 oz was heavy for a reel  :o

I'd pair it to a GLoomis 844 GLX.

This is a rod I have (MBR 844C) and would HIGHLY recommend it to you. However a rod that you might want to look at is the BCR854C which some of the Loomis guys are giving rave reviews.
