Extendable seat post

Featured Replies

Hey guys I got another question for you. I have the 1-3/4-in seat posts. My seats have a 1-3/4" male stud that drops down into the post. Or you can remove the post and the seat will drop down into the socket in the deck. (I'm just saying this if they're not all this way). I'm trying to find an extendable post but the only ones I found seem to have the seat permanently attached to them.

Does anyone know of an extendable post that I could still pop the seat out and put it down on the deck?

Just to make sure, I suppose I should ask- the picture above does have the seat permanently attached right?

you want to leave the post in the deck but pull the seat off the top?  I don't think you're going to find that.  The seat is bolted to the square plate on the top of the post as standard.  But the base of the post goes in and out of the deck so you can lay the whole thing down to put a cover on.

The seat posts I think you are talking about where you can put the cushion down to deck level is not the one you have pictured.  The ones that sit on the deck are threaded bases, the one in your pic is a simple slide in with a locking tab.  You can remove it by pushing in the tab and pulling it out but it’s the entire pole, not just the top with the cushion. The base in the deck determines which one you have.

Sorry l wasn't clear. What l have now is the same style as above except short and non extending. You can remove the seat from the post, remove the post from the deck, and put the seat into the post socket located on the deck. So you can run the seat with or without a post in a high or low config.

I bought the above post looking for an extendable option then realized that the seat would be permanently screwed to the post which doesn't work for me.

Does anyone know of an extendable post like that that l can plug a seat into or out of like the one l have?

I don’t know of anything like you want.

Why do you want to pull the seat and drop it to the deck?

Because l sit in it like that half the time. Or my kids do anyway. It also is a place to dock the extra seats.

Don’t know of a “Lock In” pedestal extender, design will accommodate slide in removal of the seat.
