I said it before, and I'll say it again.  "it takes a lot to bum me out while fishing"

yesterday, proved it.  hahah..I laughed it off.  first the fishing kinda sucked.  I found some fish in a grass island and was landing them.  a poor soul paddled up, and told me he was going into a skunk.  I said, "I am finding them in this grass..cast to the edges".   he motored up near me...two other kayakers took my invitation as UNIVERSAL, and edge in as well.  hah..I moved off.  skunk off my boat.

I find a smaller patch elsewhere and try to see if the formula repeats.  I cast, slight backlash, so I pull it out.  I wind up without looking.  current pulling me off.  I wind, and look down and see the line is wrapped hard around the handle...oh-o!  I work it out best I can..which wasn't very  "best".  I manage to cinch down a knot mid-line.   I cut it off and start pulling in my bait.  I feel a tug!!!  and lose it immediately since I am now hand-lining.  grrrr..I have line around my handle, a wad (of line) in my hand, and i pull it back to only put my elbow shirt sleeve into the Vision 110 hooks,  I mistakenly put into the 1st position in the box behind me.   I had to one hand the hook free which was awkward as heck since I am still trying to fist the line.  I hear a "twick!" and think nothing of it.  I free myself, while forcing myself to grin about it...wad the line up, stuff it into a vest pocket, run the line up the line guide, retie, and then settle in.  I look behind me..the TWICK!!  sound was my rod tip snapping.  hahahah...I must have yanked the V-110 out too hard and put the stress right at the tip!!  it was 5-10 minute of the fifth ring of hell level fun...  and I had ran around and had my rudder up in the mud....  so FUN!!!  FUNNNN!!

for penance, I put all the rods away...grabbed a few gulps of water, and went 6 miles up and around another arm I have never seen or visited.   I wish I had brought my motor.  fun!!

I did catch a good bass on my 5" Daingerous.    good day nevertheless.    and yes, the rod that snapped was a Fury.  one more left and I arm fury-less.   those things are snappy. :D   and my reel to rod ratio is more skewed to reels yet again.  hahahaha..

I'm looking forward to work tomorrow. :D

Yesterday, I had a 3700 full of hard baits sit out in the rain.  I drained them off and then popped them in the oven on warm to dry.  I set a timer, but when the timer went off I was dealing with kids and didn't get to them for another 20 minutes.

They're all deformed.  15ish cranks and jerks with deformed plastic and popped seals.  It's my fault.  I've done the oven trick before but I guess I got lucky.   FML.

I did this to a sourdough ball just the other day.  turned it on to warm the oven and never thought about it again...hahahh

One of those days. I have them sometimes, thankfully not much. Glad it wasn't worse for you, could have hooked yourself bad or got dumped.

To dry baits safely, open box, and place in front of a fan. A couple of hours and they will be dry. Better yet, take them out of the box to dry them. They will dry more quickly and evenly.

I bet he knows this now.

I just open the lid and set the entire thing on my workbench.  the warm garage desiccates everything so quickly.

electing to toss the Fury into my office dumpster tomorrow.  I am not pursuing the replacement buy-in.  I'm over that rod.  one more to go.  hahahha

I guess this gives me something to look forward to as I become a more experienced kayak fisherman like you, right? 😂 I do appreciate your positive attitude about what I would call a rough day. I always enjoy your posts.

When you break the next one you will no longer be furious while fishing :)

Glad you can have such a good attitude about a rough day!
