Don’t over look a top water lure isn’t stationary unless dead still. They rolls side to side and some go under water a few inches when worked. Colors of top water lures are flashing in several directions and can make a difference in strike ratio.

For topwaters I mostly pick colors that look cool, but I tend to lean towards colors that contrast well with the water just so I can see the lure easily.

I hear ya. That's why we loved the mornings when the smallies preferred fluorescent red F13 Rapalas.
