I NEED NEW REELS

Featured Replies

LAST YEAR I BOUGHT 4 BROWNING REELS AT $125.00 APIECE. ONE IS ALREADY IN THE TRASH I THINK I WILL GIVE THE OTHERS TO SOMBODY I DON'T LIKE. AT THE END OF THE YEAR I WAS BACK TO USING MY OLD DIAWA REGALS. THE ONLY THING WITH THEM IS THE BAIL FLIPS HARD. I WANT A MEDIAM PRICE REEL WITH AN EASY BAIL. AM I JUST ASKING TO MUCH FROM A SPINNING REEL?

Mike,

This may be a question for the Reel Mech.  I hope he sends his input to you.  He can also give you his opinion on the Browning products.

The guys will be giving you a lot of suggestions. Each one will be excellent so you can make up your own mind.

For me, I like Shimano reels but the Abu Garcia and Diawa reels are excellent.

I hate to tell you this but I have never seen the Browning products discussed as an option on this site for any type of reel.  Does that tell you something?

Good luck in selecting your new spinning reels.  You can't go wrong by reading the future posts to your question.

Strong, silent, smooth and reliant...

The Shimano Stradic 2500 is what you need. This reel is $120 and the best value in the Shimano line-up. You will find the reel to be perfect right out of the box, but surprisingly it gets better over time. You can depend on these reels and with annual maintenance they will last a decade or more.

I manually flip the bail when getting ready to retrieve.  I've found it tends to cause a little less in the way of loops.  Not that I fish spinning equipment that much other than crappie fishing.

I like my shimano spinning reels(actually all my shimano reels ;D) but I have had good sucess out of the Diawas I have had in the past.

Agree 100%!!

Hey 2 things here First give the Pflueger Presidents a try great reels.Secondly, I learned here to get in the habit of flipping the bail by hand . It avoids looping big time and saves the wear and tear on the spring. In the begging of the year I catch myself closing it with the first turn but after a while closing it by hand becomes second nature  :)

I have both a Shimano Stradic and Symetre, IMO either will serve you very well depending on how much you want to spend.

That was an expensive lesson huh... :)

Browning had Quantum licensed to build their reels for awhile, now BPS is their only fishing licensee.

Just the traits of really dirty spinning reels. The grease used on the bail arms, and return springs and kickers, is getting old and gummy. Clean and lube them they are Daiwa'.

Two have already been recommended that I would back up the Stradic and Symetre.

Not from a reel that is regularly serviced...

Just my .02¢

Tight Lines All!!!

i love my shimano spinning reels!  i have several stradics and some japanese models (twinpower and biomaster)  the twinpower is my favorite but the stradics are right behind it - especially at their price point.
