Baitcasting line - mono, flourocarbon, braided?

Featured Replies

What is your choice for Texas rig? 12-14 lbs range. Looking for low memory and low backlash tendancy.

50lb PowerPro braid (12lb diameter) is my choice for Texas rigged plastics. JMHO

flouro will backlash the worst.braid will backlash the least followed by a limp mono.i suggest sufix braid or cajun red cast mono.

i like copolymer lines. i just bought a bunch of gamma line. it's breaking strength is much more than the rated # test. for instance 17#test is rated breaking strength is 34#s. copolymer is a blend of materials, unlike mono is usually nylon. copolymer is more limp and less memory.

Welcome aboard!

Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (19.5 lb test). In use, this line has virtually no memory. The line is a bonded nylon/ fluorocarbon copolymer. It is highly abrassive resistant, impervious to water and UV light and it floats! No special knot is required.

I have never been broken off by a fish using this line.

For low memory and low backlash tendancy, mono will outperform the flouros (haven't used braid so I don't know in comparison with braid).  However, if you include strength, abrasion resistance and low stretch to your parameters, hybrid would fit the bill.
