What lure caught your biggest bass in 2025?

Featured Replies

No pics but my largest came off a Scum trophy frog in chartreuse. Estimated upper 6lb range. Was as long as my PB but was leaner.

Megabass 110 jerkbait got this 8.20 lb. pre-spawner in Feb.     Honorable mention: 298 days later, a Damiki Vault scored this 7.73 lb. bass in Dec.

Homemade 1/2oz black and blue flipping jig. Half silicone, half living rubber.   9.72lbs, the anchor to a 35lb bag.

  • Megabass jerk bait in perch caught this bloated prespawn brownie in late May.

6.1 bronze back on a Deps Evoke, I think it was September or November. I love fall cranking.

2025 was not a big bass year for me. I caught dozens of four-pounders, up to four fours in a morning, but I only hooked one bass markedly bigger than the four-pounders. I didn't get her weight, but bass of similar length and size that I've caught in other years weighed about 6.5 pounds. I caught her on a Mike Siebert spinnerbait @Siebert Outdoors and I also caught the majority of my four-pounders on Mike's spinnerbaits:

The reason I didn't catch the big ones like I did in 2024 is that I was too tired (anemia) to fish the bogs, where the bass are bigger. It's soooooooooo much easier to fish my pond or my pal's pond where there is a canoe and a kayak waiting for me and I don't have to load and then unload and then load and then unload my Kevlar canoe. At one bog, I also have to climb a knoll and work my way through the woods. Unfortunately, my pond's bass are well shaped, but top out at 19 inches like this one:

I hope I can fish a few bogs in 2026! My iron levels are a bit better.

I caught a few smallies around 2.5-3 lbs this year. Nothing remarkable enough at the time to weigh. Green pumpkin tube.

Like you, I also can't catch big smallies. They swim in Maine, but not in the smallish ponds I fish. I don't think it's my failing. I have caught 25-pound smallie bags in my life, but the smallies in my smallish ponds top out at 18" and I've never heard of anyone catching bigger ones from these bodies of water. Here's one from my pond. I'm guessing three pounds, about like yours, jitterbug:

Also caught this one with a big single blade Colorado, but i didn’t have my scale. Eye test says it’s as big as the first one but I guess we’ll never know.

Couple of honorable mentions here a 5.08 on a wacky rigged senko and a 5.03 on a white mini max.
