My favorite piece of art that I display in my office.

My uncle drew it after 9/11.

He was too old to join the military again (Air Force, Vietnam) so he wanted to help some way.

Sold copies and used the proceeds for care packages for soldiers.

At the time my cousin was in the special forces chasing down bin Laden.

I’m extremely proud of this piece of art. Means a lot for several different reasons.

doesn’t exactly go on the wall but this is my first fish carving, other the the driftwood branch.

My entire house has outdoor themed artwork. Most of which we collected on vacations over the years. A small sample is below.

For those who aren’t familiar, that bottom framed print is a closeup view of a loon.

@Columbia Craw: Your dad's art reminds me of some of my favorite pieces of art, which are American Regionalism, where the artists painted working class folks working or their old homes. I can share some photos of these pieces if you'd like.

It's fitting that you want to see the art, Al, because it's Iowa art. The first is a WWII era Bond poster by the great Thomas Hart Benton, who is one of my five favorite artists. His signed prints can sell for tens of thousands of dollars, so whereas I can't afford one of those, I can afford this:

This is more Regional art, a woodcut print that's signed:

And this might be my favorite painting. It's tempera:

I live in Maine, but you can see my Midwestern roots in the art I love. FWIW, I do own art by Maine artists too.

If anyone is interested in fish prints, I suggest you look up wildlife artist Al Agnew. He’s done dozens of covers for Bass Pro catalogs. I own a few of his smallmouth prints which in my opinion are some of the best I’ve ever seen.

Thanks! I'll pass your compliment along to her. She's multi talented. She also makes "orgonite" in various shapes. I play a very small supporting role in her art.
