Jig rod Shimano expride action question

Featured Replies

Looking to getting a Shimano expride for dragging jigs. Throw a lot of 1/4 3/8 and a half if it's windy. Once I add the trailer and add some weight to it would I be better suited for a medium heavy or a heavy in this rod. I know what the lure rating say on the rod but didn't know if I should go with a heavy?

What type of cover and hook? Rock and open water would lean me toward light to medium wire hooks and toward the 7'2ML or 6'10M. Heavy wire hook fished in thick weeds I'd probably lean toward the 6'10MH to 7'2MH. I don't think any of the heavy powered exprides have the tip to throw 1/4oz jigs.

7’6 medium heavy Expride is my dragging rod. I pitch 1/4-1/2 oz weight + plastic on this rod and it’s my favorite rod for dragging 1/2 oz football jigs.

Thanks for the feedback , I got the 7 2 medium heavy fast.

I have both rods.. 1/4oz & 3/8 are great with the MH but with the 1/2oz jigs I reach for the H rod. No way would I throw a full size jig on the ML (I have that one too)
