Braided Line Split Rings, Who Uses Them?

Featured Replies

I keep seeing guys talk about them and use them, but I haven’t tried them out. Im intrigued though. So I’m looking for real world reviews and such from anyone has tried them out? Is there really that much of an advantage over regular split rings?

I might be wrong, but I see the advantages as this; quieter while working the bait to take away some of the metal clanking and less opportunity for a hooked bass to leverage the hook free during the fight because there's more rotation available. If silent cranks are the deal or losing fish is a problem, then this might be the solution. Personally I haven't gotten there yet.

I had never heard of this before. I feel like it's worth trying on a couple baits. One thing I don't like is tying line to split rings which is why I'm considering replacing the split rings with something like a Duo Lock.

I dove in pretty deep this winter and tied braid split rings on dozens of baits. I've largely be happy with the results, BUT, I've had 2 hooks pulled off the baits also. I give them a really good pull test after tying and they don't budge or I don't leave it. I'm not sure what's happening but it can't happen many more times or I'll be putting the split rings back on. They really seem to help with smallmouth on topwaters, so I might end up sticking with them on just those and taking them back off my other baits.
