Grinding feeling in Daiwa riveted handle knob

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I have a current gen daiwa regal with the handle knob riveted on. I know some other reels use a screw to hold it on. So at some point some sand or debris must have got in between the handle and the knob, creating a grindy or rubbing feel. This doesn’t affect performance but just annoys me. Is there any way to fix this? IMG_8833.jpeg

Ok I will try that. I already added oil and already tried running it under the sink a couple times.

If a reel does a good job for you, aftermarket replacement handle gives you two ball bearings and the ability to swap knobs.

Gomexus makes a part that will let you drill out a riveted handle and swap a spindle that accepts all Shimano-A and Daiwa-S knob.

IOS Factory makes a hex shaft adapter that lets you use any SLP Works handle.

You can also lift the handle on the stem, and use an air gun and blow air through it one way then go through the other end. I'm sure you will blow out all the sand. Do it until it feels smooth. This has worked for me in the past.
