Livescope showing reverse

Featured Replies

My Garmin Livescope is showing reverse; when I get to the shore, I have to reverse the trolling motor to indicate shallow water. Has anyone else had this problem; I’ve calibrated the compass successfully.

Brother and I both got Garmin Livescope in the past month. We have both noticed the unit randomly reversing the sonar. Restoring to factory default solves the problem...but then I lose all my custom settings.

I need to register my units...might hit up customer support.

I'm scratching my head trying to understand what ya'll are talking about.

It is in landscape or forward mode? My HBird in landscape has to be set correctly (flip up or flip down, left or right) and has software settings to flip it around based on how it is installed. If in forward mode, are you sure it is pointing forward towards the TM nosecone? I made that mistake the first time.

I contacted Garmin support, and they suggested restoring the default settings, then recalibrating the compass. I tried that, and the transducer still showed reverse. They then offered to send me an updated card with the latest software to install. . They said the only other alternative is a transducer, which is $400. Stay tuned!

When I get to shallower water, the transducer still shows deeper water, unless I reverse the direction of the trolling motor (where the transducer’s mounted). Also, the only way I can see my lure sinking is when the transducer position’s reversed.

So the transducer is pointed out in front of the boat but the screen is showing what's behind the boat?

That is great information! I am going to keep a close eye on my unit. It's been randomly switching to reverse view...and I have been restoring to default to fix. Had the unit just a few weeks, and registered with Garmin recently.

Well, I finally installed the latest update sent by Garmin, the panopticon still reads backward. After calling Garmin again, the tech said the transducer compass is going bad, and the only remedy is another transducer. They can send me a refurbished one with a 90 day warranty for $400. Ouch!
