NRX+ 904c mbr

Featured Replies

Anyone have any thoughts on the NRX+ 904mbr? Or another NRX? I’m looking for new rod to handle heavier plastic specifically like wacky rigged 5.8 bellows gills and he new 6.8 bellows shad. I believe they come in over an ounce.

I currently running the 894c jwr as my rig rod mainly bank fishing w 3/8oz or sometimes 1/2oz jigs and the 883bjr for chatterbaits.

Thank you

Those are 3 of my favorite rods. The 904C is a great soft plastic, topwater and football jig rod but I don't think it can handle those big Geecrack baits. I believe they weigh over an ounce which would be too much for that rod in my opinion. The 894C would also be under powered for those baits. The 883C wouldn't even come close. I also have the 895C. This rod might do it but it is massively over powered for most of my fishing. It is great for pulling heavy fish out of cover though.

You might look at the Megabass P5 rods. They have a few that might fit the bill.

I have a CNQ 904mbr and swim 4.8 bullflats on 3/8-1/2oz football heads and it's my favorite rod for a 3/4oz swim jig with a 120mm d-walker fished in heavy cover. Maybe there's a significant difference between the 2 lines when it comes to how they handle the upper range, because I feel real comfortable going over an ounce on the conquest.

Most of what I’ve read or heard anecdotally the CNQ have a higher top end and give you more faith pushing it than the NRX models.

I’d suggest something the X10 line which can handle the weights. The NRX line shines on JWR actions but those weights would be a push even on an 895, and the rod would be useless for much else besides big ole jigs.

It's my fav model in the nrx plus lineup that I own... I use it strictly for 4.8 Keitech swing fat impact on a 1/4 swimbait hook... Have used it for frogs also... Will be the 1st nrx plus that I want to get another one..
