I launched this morning needing 37 bass to bring my 2026 total to 1,000. I fished my pal's pond, so I fished from my Predator 13 kayak, a heavy, stable boat and caught 34, leaving me three shy of 1,000 for 2026 at 997 bass. Thus, the question that's my title: "Does anyone know how to catch three bass?"

A bit like a barista, I am taking tips!

I started the morning at a drop-off and picked up a few bass, but they were in-betweeners, not dinks and not bigger ones. Like this:

Still, I hoped for something bigger, so I paddled to this area:

Bass looking, huh? It was, as I caught this girl, who was my tenth bass:

She hit a weightless worm and I saw her line I the water as she charged it. Here she is on the bump board:

So, I took the dog for a walk and caught this little one:

Dogs like long walks, so I kept walking the dog and caught this beauty:

Then I paddled to my favorite spot, the river that drains the pond. I caught nothing there, perhaps because geese were right where I wanted to fish, but on the way, I caught this bass trolling a Senko:

I hoped she might have friends, so I cast to where I hooked her and caught these four in four casts:

Schools are so fun! You hear that kids? Schools are fun!!!

Still, I couldn't catch 37 bass. Again, I ask, "Does ANYONE know how to catch three bass???"

Another great day of fishing, even though you were left 3 shy of your goal. Still you have plenty of time to catch three fish which shouldn’t be a problem for you. Those are some nice looking bass in a good looking pond

Those numbers are humbling. I never caught 34 of anything in a day. Is there a Mt. Rushmore for bass anglers?

I'm going to fish for an hour and a half this evening, Al, and push my count over 1,000. Last year, I didn't surpass 1,000 until August 3rd. However, after tonight, I'm going to fish two or three bogs to mix it up. My anemia has improved and I've a little more energy than last summer.

Katie, I've fished with you five times. If you had anymore energy, you could power the eastern seaboard! Every time we quit it was because of me! You paddle constantly, toss between paddles, unhook bass between paddles, then paddle! Your upperbody could stand in the paint with Shaq and Barkley! ☺️ If we arm wrestled, I'd need another surgery. You fast walked me through miles of harbor towns until my legs turned to jelly. Katie, you having more energy is a scary thought! 😝
