3/4oz traps?

Anybody here use the 3/4 ounce Rat-L-Trap? Where does it shine?

I love them in River current. Dirty water they do good too

They cast like a rocket and get great distance. I use it as a cleanup by allowing it to settle to the bottom, yo-yo it twice, then burn it in. I always have one tied onto a 7'11" rod and pull it out when the bite stops but I can still see fish in the area.

Oh thanks guys! I hadn’t thought of those scenarios. I’ll have to give it a try down at the river, the bass are more energetic there.

I used the 3/4 oz red Eye shad. Bounced it on a point about 20 foot deep and caught a few bass and one lunker. Only didi it the one time.

@Bazoo , good reminder! I need to bust out my R-traps and get them wet!

Years ago when I lived in NE Missouri, fished Hazel Creek Lake...had some good LMB's and was stocked with Musky. We would hit the dam / rip-rap at dawn and cast 3/4oz silver and blue R-traps as far as we could...and caught nice Bass and a few Musky. Good fun!

Most frequently we either used them deep with a pumping retrieve from post-spawn on, or very early spring for slow rolling over deeper grass just starting to ‘wake up’, or points for staging pre-spawn bass looking for a big meal.

Almost exactly like a big blade spinnerbait or heavy swimming jig. Pretty cool - thanks for the tip!
