Ants???

Featured Replies

Question, does anyone else get ants on their boat covers? And if you do, what do you do to get rid of them?

Terro is the best stuff I've used but never dealt with ants invading a boat cover.

It's obvious that they are climbing up from below so treat below.

Mix 2 tablespoons of borax with 1 cup sugar, and one cup water. Soak cotton balls in the solution. Place the cotton balls where the ants are seen. They are attracted to the sugar and will carry the borax back to the nest where it will kill them all.

I use food grade diatomaceous earth.

If you are parking your boat near a peony bush, either find a different parking spot or move the peony bush.

I don’t get them in the boat cover, but they love invading the car covers. I put those “Amdro” stakes all around and that gets rid of them until the next spring, then we start all over.

Same as others mentioned above, I use amdro outside, and it works well. But on the insides and places where rain cannot wash it away like carports, garages, boats patios etc. and even in the house, the pros here in Florida recommended this to me:

And it does not take much. One drop- or less- of this on a small piece of plastic or aluminum foil well placed does the trick. I spread it out some- like smear out a line of it to give more ants more room to eat more of it and carry it back to the next. Colony gone in less than a day.
