Torn on the dropshot

Featured Replies

I finally admitted that my eyes suck, and tried those weird looking Standout hooks last night. I’ll be damned if they don’t work really well. The big bend in place of an eye makes tying on in low light way easier, and they flat hook up.

I’m not sure I’d switch to them for tournament use, but for an evening dinking trip these things just might be the deal.

Have not tried them...yet.

My sunglasses have readers built in. So I can still use "normal" hooks...

These things have been laying on my dashboard for the last year - I decided to throw one on based on the lack of desire to get the rigging box out. Turned out to be really easy in the dark, so we’ll give them a shot in tonight’s tournament and see how that goes.

That's really great!

I too love to experiment extensively. Its why some of the tackle I favor is not run-of-the-mill stuff.

Please let us know how it works..I'm interested.

I always chuckle when I read these dropshot posts. I’ve been dropshotting for 40 years which doesn’t mean I’ve been doing it right but I can say I’ve fished it side by side with my “innovative” fishing friends who are always down to fish the latest and greatest rigging techniques. Recently I watched a tournament recap where they said the angler that won was throwing a dropshot in an unconventional rigging….and it was the way I’ve been rigging for ever. I’ve posted it here many times. Now as far as baits and hook size there are exceptions but as a rule for largemouth and smallmouth in the rivers and lakes I fish including the St Lawrence and St Clair for smallmouth and Okeechobee, Kissimmee, and Headwaters in Florida for largemouth I use the same exact rig. I may adjust the tag line for the style of dropshotting (dragging or casting) and bottom composition (rocky or soft) and grass height if present but

Is it because they are lead? I know the owner of the company and can get information if you need it.
