IS this rod good for topwater and cranks

Featured Replies

I gave full price for mine and it is worth every penny.  I only use it for mid to deep cranks, but that is personal preference.  It is not as sensitive as 100% graphite of course, but the weight isn't bad at all.  I don't notice any extra fatigue when using it.  I think for $30 you'll not find a better rod for what you want.

Thanks KU said the same

I agree wit hceph. For the money you won't find a much better quality crankin rod than that one. Heck I might even get one after checking it out on that link. Good find muddy, are you pulling the trigger yet or gonna wait a little while?

Good find, Muddy. What does everybody think about the 7'6" heavy action rod for light swimbaits? I am really a beginner with these lures, so I am not sure what to look for in a swimbait rod. I think a light action rod ould be perfect for small cranks and pop-rs. Sorry to butt in with a different ? I have another post going with a swimbait topic, if yall could post responses to my question there.

Yeah, thanks for the link. I was thinking of picking up a cranking rod, the rod im using is really better for jerk baits, too fast for a deep crank. that rod fits my budget too.

PULLED THE TRIGGER TODAY. MY GIRLFRIEND ORDERED ONE FOR ME I WENT TO THE 6 FOOT PISTOLGRIP MED ACTION CRANKIN STICK!!!!!!!

Muddy I have 2 Cranking sticks, worth every penny. Now put your new Trion on it, and that will be fine set up. To top it off you got it for $29 :o I paid full price for mine.........you sir should be arrested.

Darn good deal Muddy.....I bought one on my way to the Fork at the Dallas BPS and paid full price  :'(

Mine is a 7' med.....so far so good.....I like it.....now I need to find a 5 pounder with it!

Good luck with yours and enjoy!

BAD MONKEY ??? You mean good girlfriend, don't you?

Cheers,

Pfluger trion rods are great for the money too. Nicest $30 rod I have ever seen new, when you can find them. I use 7' med./fast  for shallow cranks and topwater(except buzzbaits).

Those look like GREAT rods for the money.  I however like a faster action for topwater lures.

I have a big problem of pulling too fast to set the hook  when Im topwater fishing! It was suggested that I go to fibergalss or a slower tip by a few guys So I'm giving that a try, I have 2 sweet spots on my home lake that offer a great topwater bite all summer long as the sun is going down. You can find my boat by all the cussing that comes out of it every time I set the hook too fast ::o
