Is this a Risto Rap? It is a suspending lure. A yardsale find!

Shad Rap suspending. Very good lure that I fish like a jerkbait in cold water.

I've fished shad raps before, and they have a narrower bill. This one has a dished bill as well, whereas the shad rap has a flat bill. I don't believe it to be a shad rap.

Regular Shad Rap is wood and floats. RS version is plastic and suspends.

I fish these like a suspending jerkbait. Cast out, reel to depth, them just pull the bait with the rod about 6in and stop. It's one of my best cold water baits.

Awesome, thanks everyone. I will retain it for wintertime!

Don’t discount them as a cold water only bait - they’re an absolute killer year round in pressured water.

A few years ago I won a summer night tournament (and got my PB Rainbow Trout) throwing a silver/black Shad Rap.

I only wish they'd offer it in a firetiger pattern. Killer smallie bait just after ice-out.
