I’ve been meaning to get a bigger reel for my swimbait rod (Dobyns Mike Bucca 835sb) and have a $200 Academy gift card burning a hole in my pocket. The 2 that catch my eye online are the Shimano TranX 300B, and the Curado 300.

I currently have a Curado 200K on the rod, and feel it gets a bit overpowered at times when throwing baits over 2oz. I feel a larger reel would be nice and I could move the 200K to my 7’2” H+ Daiwa BLX for Magdrafts and Cullshads.

I’d mostly be throwing 1-3oz glidebaits and A-rigs. Is the TranX worth the extra $100? Thanks!

I have a couple Tranx 400's and while I like them, I think they're overrated. I just replaced all the bearings in both. I definitely don't think they're $100 dollars better than a Curado.

I have experience with both of them, and TranX is on another level. I have a couple of 300s and 400s, and I think they are way better than Curados. Also, since they made TranX for saltwater, the seals and drags are much better. I never had a Curado K but got rid of my Curado DC 150/200s due to feeling loose in hand, if you know what I am trying to say. They don't feel solid like TranXs.
