I used to use Trlene XL but it kept twisting. I am now trying Trilene Maxx. It seems to be doing ok. I also got some Fireline but just read not too many people like it. Is there anyting that casts good, is strong and sensitive and doesn't twist. The Trilene XL would give me bird nests occasionally. I hate to leave Berkley but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. By the way, I have the new Mitchell 300 series reels if that makes any difference.    

Everything will twist on spinning gear, it's the nature of the beast.  

Take the time to let the line out behind the boat as you troll along once in a while, this will remove the majority of the twist for the time being. (no lure attached)

Obviously braids and superlines are less resistant to twist but aren't as good as a multi purpose line.

the most hassle free line on spinning is sufix braid or fireline.twist doesn'tcause problems at all with these lines.that said,this year i'm using seguar invizx in 10 lb.test.

The suggestion LBH made will cure your problems and you can still use the XT on your spining tackle, no need to change if that's what you like.

The best spinning line I've found is McCoy Mean Green. It's very limp with little memory and does not twist much at all.

It's also very strong.

Give it a try. You may have to order on line. www.***.com has it.

P-line CX and P-line flourocarbon.....the KVD line spray works wonders too. But you have to untwist your line periodically like everyone else said... You can also put a small swivel a foot or so ahead of your bait when technique allows.

Also, remember to always flip the bail with your hand after you cast.  If you flip it with your real it puts a twist in it.  Hope this helps.

Good advice ! I would just add:

-Do not reel when the drag is in action!!! ( like when a fish pulls line or you are snagged and keep reeling hoping to free your lure) It just twists your line...

-Make sure the spool is filled correctly, without the line beeing twisted.

There are lots of lines out there that work just fine. I have tried most of them and I plan to keep experimenting with others. Right now I'm a BIG fan of #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. Give it a try, the cost of the trial is not high.

I'm on my second year of fishing this line and it is the best I have ever used on spinning gear. The most important attribute for me is that it has virtually no memory in use. The line lasts forever, is HIGHLY abrasion resistant , extremely strong and stealthy.

What do you have to lose?

I've yet to find a line that was inherently prone to excessive twist.  Which is to say that the line isn't to blame.

You're not going to find a line better suited for use on spinning tackle than XL.

I use Power-Pro braid on all my spinning tackle, but if you spool-up with 'any' braided polyurethane (spectra),

I think your "line-twist" problems would be too few for discussion.

Polyurethane braid is thinner than nylon, casts great, cuts through many weeds, is virtually non-stretch,

has zero-memory and lasts as long fluorocarbon!

Thanks guys. I went to Eagle Rock on the James today and tried my Fireline. I was impressed. Zero problems other than no big fish. I did test the strength however, when I got hung up. I will also try some of the other stuff ya'll mentioned. The Trilene Maxx did ok but I'm gonna have to unwind it like some of you have said. I have done this before but sometimes to late. Lots of fish today but not anything to write home about.    

I agree with Burley the XL is the best line that I have found for spinning equipment.

I've used Trilene XL for over twenty years and, as Burley said you won't find a better line for spinning.

Like RW said the Yo- Zuri Ultra Soft is great on spinning. RW told me about this line and I tryed it, and I love this line, it is very strong. I use the 6lb. and 8 lb.and 12 lb. on my bait casting.I would just say try it and you will be hooked as I am!!!!!!  : : : :-? :-? 8-) ;) :-?

sufix seige is really good.unless the line has been on your reeel for a long time there is virtually no memory and it is very strong and abrasion resistant.as for line twist i got two words .....it happens  

I didn't see anyone mention Suffix braid. Is it any good? According to them it's made for Spin casters.

i mentioned it in the 3rd post.best braid made imho.

Thanks Dodgeguy. When I was going back through the posts I saw your response and think I will try it. Berkley has a new Fireline out called Crystal and have put it on my ultra light. I'll give results later.
