Lots of ideas on this .i know a short deep spool dont cast as good as a shallow long spool, then again it all depends on your rod also along with your line and lure.A lot of the forumites will chime in on this my pfluegers cast better then my shimanos then again im not much of a spinning reel handler :-/ :-/

The one that is attached to the longest rod with the heaviest weight on the line.  ;)

One of the new Stella 2007 shallow spool reels with as long a rod as you can handle.  The reel goes for ~ $600.  You said price was no object....

I have a 10'6 Loomis for surfcasting, with a Dawia Emblem attached to it. It cast about 3 miles..... ;D

I've got a 12' Ugly Stik and a cheapo Shakespeare surf reel and I can easily do 100+ yds with a 3 oz. weight.

You should see the looks I get when I start pitching Senkos with it on the lake! ;)

Kidding...

Depends upon the rod it is setting on, fishing line used, wind conditions, and weight of the bait or plug

Rod length, weight and line will have much greater effects on casting distance than the reel.  President casts just fine and plenty long.

If you want to cast further, lengthen your rod and lighten your line.

Also the air resistance of the lure is inportant. I have a Cover Jack wedless frog that doesn't have silicone legs, and it cast twice as far as a Spro frog that does have legs. They bolth weigh 5/8oz and are being casted on Power Pro.

Ever noticed how spooks cast a mile? They are one of the most streamlined lures out there. Ever take the skirt off a jig and notice you can cast if further? Casting a 1/2 big fat crankbait into the wind can be harder than casting a 1/4 jig head.

I've seen with my own two eyes what air resitance can do. I think It plays a big factor in the distance of the cast. Anyone else notice this?
