Ideas on a good spinning reel

Featured Replies

I am fond of shimano reels and have many curados and am now looking for a good spinning reel. In the past i have purchased saharas but what about the Sustian? Do you all have any other spinning reels in mind that might be better?

The Symetre ($80) has been getting rave reviews by some members of the Shimano Posse. However, I think the "best value" among all Shimano reels is the Stradic 2500FH ($120). I have a Sustain which is a fine reel, but I do not think is significantly better than the Stradic and would NOT recommend it for the additional cost. If the price is not a concern, a new version of the Stella is being introduced. I have a couple of the 2500FBs and a 1000FA. I'm not sure how these reels can be improved, but I'm looking forward to finding out!

I would at least look and feel the Pflueger Supreme. The reel only is only 7 or 8 oz and feels great($99.95). The weight alone is enough to justify a good look..............Al

I've only had my Symetre for less than a year and fish mostly bait casters. Don't know how it's going to hold up for the long run but I really like it so far...

The only way I would upgrade to a Sustain like ( equivalent ) from the Stradic would be to get a Japanese magnesium Twin Power with shallow spool either PG ( power gear ) or HG ( high gear ). Otherwise the most I would get would be a Stradic Mg.

But of course, I 'm always ready to take a dive into a Stella.  ;)
