i have been using stren extra strength for a few years on my spinning reel (8#) and i like it alot.  but it is getting harder and harder to find w/o ordering it.

p-line is sold almost everywhere around me and i was wondering if their cxx extra strength line would be good on a spinning reel...or does it have too much memory??  if so what about p-line cx???

i like the extra strength stren better than regular stren or trilene XL.  i fish around some grass in many areas and just feel more confident w/ 8# extra strength and don't want to go up to 10# on my spinning rig

As the name implies CXX is really extra extra strong ..... and has more memory than a pack of elephants ! not exactly the best line for spinning reels, open the bail and the line jumps from the spool like if it were a spring.

CX is less stiff and in the lower tests it 's more user friendly, coils less while still being very tough.

XL is not the best line where there 's an abrassive environment, it really doesn 't take much to beat it to death, better suited for places that don 't have woody cover and with silt/mud/ sandy bottoms.

Try the PLine CX in 8 lb.

It is great line.  After trying a ton of different lines over the last year, I keep coming back to the CX.  Strong, low memory, and it handles rocks pretty well.

I fished a variety of P-Lines for a couple of years, then I discovered Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Try the #6 Hybrid Ultra Soft on your spinning tackle, I'm sure you will like it better than the fishing lines you have been using. It's strong (11.9 lb test), highly abrasion resistant and has virtually no memory in use.

Floroclear is pure fluoro, CX and CXX are copoly ( nylon core, fluoro sheath ), copolys are stronger than pure material but at a acost, you loose maneagability as you increase the test, copolys in the lower tests are good lines because they are thin and tough, once you break the 10 lb test mark they behave like wire.

Unfortunately, YZUS isn't available locally, so I'm trying to find an alternative until I place a large order for YZUS

Fluoroclear and CX are both fluoro coated, CX is thinner and has less memory. CXX has no fluoro on it but it is suppoused to be stronger, more abrassion resistance and less memory. Evolution is the tougher of them and has also the less memory. I have change most of my sets from CX to this one. It is the best for big Swimbaits IMO.

I use 4 to 8 pound CXX on spinning gear with NO problems. Only time I have problems is when the spool is over filled. I use 4 to 6 pound on a 750 size Shimano and 8 pound on a 2500 size.

I also use CXX on my spinning reel.  6 lb test which has similar breaking strength to hybrid ultra soft  (11.? lbs)  It does not jump off my reel unless I overfill it and memory is not that bad.
