Tip replacing

Shimano will probably send you a new tip-top for free. With a cigarette lighter, heat the old tip and remove it with pliers (gently and DON'T burn the blank!). Clean the tip and put a SMALL dab of Super Glue on the end, replace the new tip-top. Adjust it QUICKLY to make sure it's on straight (lined up). Some of our rod makers may suggest a better adhesive, but this works.

I would recommend like RW contact Shimano for a new tip, then read this article for the how to..

ok well i just called shimano and the guy said cut it in half and send it in so i guess ill just do that the only question i have is are they going to like send it back and say the wont replace it becuase the tips not broken or anything the guide is just bent and cracked

THIS LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY DOES NOT EXTEND TO OR COVER ANY DAMAGE TO THE ROD NOT RESULTING FROM A NON-CONFORMITY IN MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP; ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY MISUSE, ABUSE OR TAMPERING WITH THE ROD BY OTHER THAN NORMAL USE OF THE ROD; OR ANY NON-CONFORMITY OR DAMAGE RESULTING FROM REPAIRS PERFORMED OTHER THAN BY SHIMANO OR AN AUTHORIZED SHIMANO SERVICE PROVIDER

i dont want them to send me back a cut in half rod

PLEASE DO NOT CUT THE ROD IN HALF

Anyone who suggested it should be fired from Shimano. What a waste of time and money.. both yours and theirs. ;)

It will cost you 5-10 times as much to send a broken rod in than it will to replace the tip. (not to mention the hassle factor of shipping) 99% of the tackle shope will replace a tip for free if you buy the $2-$5 replacement from them.

I'm sorry but this is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard of and I am embarrassed to be a Shimano customer if this is how they think. Geeze :-/

Please note my frustration is ONLY with shimano, not the poster. Just a real big waste of time & money

Even places like wal-mart carry eyes and tips.  You could buy one and pick up some fletching cement to use to install it.  That way you can safely and easily remove it if you ever need to.

No you don't need a tip top gauge,

you can use a caliper..

or

a Drill Bit Gauge

Either way make sure you measuring is converted to 64th's

The Crucial rod is using Fuji Alconite guides and tips...
