It's time for another new rod already.  Got a new reel and I love my new St. Croix Avid series rods.  I can't find many of them now.  Eventually, I'll get another St. Croix rod to add to the family.  I'm a firm believer in their quality and feel.  All I can find now are the Triumph and the Premier Series.  What your opinions on these two series rods in comparison to the Avid series?  

The Triumph is an embarassment for St. Croix.

The Premier does not compare to the Avid series.

i bought a premiere and it well very well taken care of and i still managed to have the blank brake on me after a hook set. i Sent it back to cabelas they were gracious enough to refund my money and i went to BPS and just bought an avid. Stick with the avids.

Well then, I must find an Avid series or I will have to go with a Falcon rod because you can't beat the feel and lightweight you get with those rods for only $70.  Now if I could find another manufacture that competes with the Avid series for around $100, I'd look at it was well.  I've had some tell me All Star and some other brands but I haven't been impressed with them in the store.  Must be a confidance issue.  I know Falcon and I know the Avid series.  GLoomis.....well the name is a legend and holding one of them is like holding a jewel and an insurance policy in your hand because you need one for the price.  They are awesome but too expensive.  I'm already a nervous cat with my Avid series, I can't afford to go up.  I'm trying to keep it around $100.

You may want to consider a Fenwick HMX, if you want a comprable price range and a better rod at this point, in my experience

The Avid and Premier can not be compared. The Triumph is not even worth considering.

If you look hard enough, you will find another Avid.

For around $100, I would go with a Team All Star or a Diawa Light n' Tough.

I had a Truimph and it cracked on me just above the reel seat.  So, IMHO, I would not even look at one.  The Premier is OK but I think Muddy picked a good one for you in the Fenwick.

The new Avids® will be about another $20.00 higher with the new IPC® and ART technology, when you finally do see them in the racks. The Triumph® series is a Chinese import (built to St Croix specs) still they are SC's ugly step child, but I have built some really good rods on the Premier® series blank.

I just purchased a 2008 Avid 7'0" spinning rod for $180, but you can find the 2007 series Avid at BPS on sale for about $111.

These are the 2 new technologies for StCroix® that were only found in the SC4 Legend Tournament® Bass, and, SC5 Legend Elite® blanks.

Now they are found in the SC3 Avid blanks.

Of course at a price.......

All of the St.Croix® rod blanks use the NEW ART technology now. It is proprietary to St.Croix® (found only in their blanks)..

The ART technology came about only 2 years ago 2005.

The IPC® technology came about in 2000, in NEW proprietary design software for the St.Croix® computers.

Both of these new technologies are proprietary to St.Croix® and no one else.

Sounds like St. Croix is cinching up their belt and going after GLoomis.  I know they can do it too because I love my Avid rods.  I just put a new BPS Prolite Finesse reel on one of my Avid rods and I darn near teared up because it was so lightweight, effortless casts, so comfortable in my hands, and weighed practically nothing.  When I put my other baitcaster on an older rod, I felt like I was swinging a pool cue compared to my Avid.

I know WHAT ART is, I'm just saying that ART isn't in the new Avids. I'm looking at my 2008 catalog right now at work, and ART is only mentioned with the Legend Series of rods. The new Avids only mention IPC. Also, the new Avids don't have the ART logo on the side of the rod, whereas the Legends do.
