Quantum Escalade

Featured Replies

First of all, Hey all!!!...I've been lurking here for awhile and decided to register and join your forum. Great site and info as well.

I was checking out this weeks sale add for Dick's Sporting goods and seen what is called the Escalade...Both in spinning and casting versions. I was wondering if any of you have used this reel and if so, your opinions? I've only used a few baitcasters and want to try a newer one. I had a friend give me an old Team Diawa and it is a decent reel, but not really that smooth. I see a lot of people on here recommend the revo reels and this is what i'm looking for. Sub 100ish type reels. As for the quantum, i've had a some good and bad on the quantum reels..the older round tour usa i believe, was a good reel, but I liked the green curado better and traded it..

I don't want to go extreme on first post and wear you all out.....thank you for any help or insight you may have

Escalade...

That isn't a regular on the Quantum lineup. So I would assume it is a store model produced by Quantum for this kind of sale. I would watch out, as many of these kinds of reels (re-brands, signature series, and house brands) are not supported by the manufacturer..

Good luck & Tight Lines !!

Welcome to the boards!

I'm a Quantum fan, but I don't think I'd give that one a shot. If it doesn't say Accurist, Energy, Tour or Kinetic, I leave those alone. I have a Quantum Profile and it works ok but it's just not the same. Reelmech makes a good point as well with the service support. That's another reason I'd stay away from it.

thx guys!! I didn't know if it was just an 08 model that hasn't been listed yet or if it was a special reel. I will take the advice though and move on

reelmechanic, do you work on the team diawa td1pi reels? If this is a discussion that needs to be done off here, I understand..just wondering

The TD1 series of reels are a discontinued series. Meaning none of the major parts are being produced anymore for support. The only parts that are still available, would be the smaller parts that can interchange with the newer TD series reels.

I took a look at this reel yesterday when I was at Dicks and at first I thought it was nice reel.  But after taking a closer look at the spool and the braking system, I would stay away from this one.  Especially since it is made just for Dicks.  It seems that alot of the branded reels for Dicks are not such a good bargin.  Often their sale reels will say, "On sale $69.99, reg. price $100" and in reality, the price is always $69.99.

As stated above, if you're a fan of Quantum stick with their factory advertised made reels.  ;)

thank you reelmechanic on the td1 info and fishtank for checking it out in hand. I will probably try the revo or wait and see what the one under it is about when it gets in more hands..black/silver and gold colored one...i can't remember the name off hand...or just cough it up for the curado...as for quantum reels, the only one that i've had that I did like was the older round one like the calcutta..but  I traded it back to then, galyans, for the curado.
