Hi,

I am going to switch all my rods over to the Hi Vis Yellow Braid with a fluorocarbon leader. I am a huge line watcher and I have a hard time seeing the green braid in the water. If anyone has used this setup please let me know your thoughts.

My biggest fear is the fish getting line shy......

Use a permanent marker (sharpie) to color the first couple feet (6-10ft)from the leader. You'll be OK

I use the same setup for worm fishing..I can see every little movement of my line

kb here  i have changed all my reels that i use to  yellow powerpro  having the same problem  when useing  mossgreen i could not see the line   with the greenish water  green trees and grass in the background  you will  be more that happy with yellow line  i know i can see every movement    kb

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Switched last year and I love it!  Never had any breaks since I swtiched.  I use about 6ft of leader.  Not sure if you're supposed to use that much, but it doesn't have an affect on my cast, so thats what I do. Good luck

Bassackward. I am thinking of using 50 or 65 lb sufix braid with a 20 lb seaguar floro leader material on 7' heavy and med/heavy casting rods.

What lb test are you using and what knot do you use to connect the leader?

I use this on my casting setup only.  Right now I have 10lb suffix braid with 10 mono leader.  I use mono just because I have some left from my baitcasters.  Doesn't make a huge difference.  The reason I use both the same lb. test is because doing this makes the end with the mono/fluoro is a lot heavier compared to the braid.  This makes casting a breeze! I can cast very far and very accurate with a little flip of the rod.  I use to blood knot to attach the lines.  Its never failed me yet!

Avid's PowerPro color trick.

get a black sharpie with the chisel tip.......cut a thin slice into the tip about 1/4 inch

Then snap the line into the slice.....run the sharpie up about 10 feet.  

It will color the line black in one easy step.....let dry a few minutes,,,,and

Voila.....your hi vis line is now low vis near the bait and easy to see on top of the water.    

I have been using the Stren Super Braid in the gold color since Jan 2004. I use a 3'-4' leader of fluorocarbon to make the line sink since the braid floats. My set up for wacky rigging is 30# braid with 20# fluorocarbon. Sometimes I will drop down to 14# fluorocarbon. I don't color any of the braid when using the leader. If I do some finesse flipping in dirty water, I don't use a leader and dip about 2' of the braid in a bottle of red soft bait dye.

The only reason I color the yellow line is because of a test I read about a long time ago about bass being line shy of the yellow lines as compared to other color lines. Fact or fiction, I don't know.

That's an awesome idea.  The only time I use hi vis line is at night and I have always shied away from hivis braid because I thought what's the point.  

But for me, I tend to let the rod tell me what's going on instead of the line but I do watch the line when I am fishing a jig real slow.

Good Idea Avid 8-) I will have to try that for bassin. I wonder if the marker chemicals weaken the line at all

I use yellow braid 200 lb test . Knots are important in my line of work. If I use a leader I use a blood knot to connect the lines . I like the Tuff Line braid it works great for me and its tough. I have not had it broken yet and have caught some 350 + lb gators on it

My gator spinning rig is laying in the boat . Its just a simple 8 ft surf rod and good reel with 200 lb tuff line yellow braid. The yellow braid is good to see in low light conditions when casting across a gators back it stands out.
