x2 ;)

I did hold one with a core on it and it almost floated out of my hands. It was unbelieveably a beautiful combination. As broke as I was when I held it, I think I would have bought them, but the Shimano booth wasn't selling anything.

Shimano - 1

Baitmonkey - 0 (and ticked)

Islandbass' Wallet - relieved. dodged a bullet.

I drove to St Louis last Sunday for my first trip of the year to Cabela's and BPS. Had a Cumara in my hands at Cabela's.

Very NICE!!

I'm not in the market for any new rods just now, but if I were, one of those would be at, or near, the top of my list.

I had one of Cabela's sales staff following me around for about ten minutes while I was checking out rods. I'm normally polite, but I was within a nickle of telling him to ^%$# off.

I finally walked out of the store after he told me that "Shimano bought Loomis, that's a Loomis blank" refering to the Cumara I had in my hands.

Anybody else heard this fairy tale?

I was told the same thing by another tackle store salesman and I asked the members of this forum and they emailed loomis and confirmed that they use different blanks.

Man those salesmen are some greedy SOB's.  Those are NOT Loomis blanks.. lol

If you want a Loomis blank, you gotta buy a Loomis rod.  Can't cut corners (or listen to salesmen hype).  ;)

I had a Cabela sponsored pro tell me yesterday that Loomis made the blanks for the Cabela XML rods.. :;) Really nice guy but full of you know what.

Speaking of Cumara's...I looked at them xmas time but bought two GLoomis Mossybacks instead. Something just didn't seem right in my hands. Could of been the EVA or whatever it is  foam grips...?

I picked up a Cumara for the first time last week.  While I wasn't too impressed with the threads and screw cap on the reel seat, I was really excited about the blank; it felt great.

I picked up the 7'2" M casting model.  Immediately 'shakey heads' popped into my mind.  If  I didn't aready have a BCR852, this Cumara would probably be my next finesse wom/jig rod.  Put a Chronarch Mg 51 on there and man, talk about a sweet setup.

FWIW,  Shimano did Buy GLoomis years ago.  My understanding was to access the technology and expand their market.

As far as loomis blank on the Shimano .....I doubt it.

I fooled around with one last week and liked it although I did have to wash my hands twice afterwards ;)

I will probably end up buying one of these rods to put my first Shimano baitcaster on.  I know... it's a sad day in Daiwa land.

X 2 ;)

Few of mine

Cumara 7"2"M/H XF 1/4-1oz w/ a Diawa Zillion for jigs and heavy plastics

Cumara 7'2"M 1/4-1/2oz w/a Revo SX for Hudd-bugs,Senko's, light plastics and shaky-head

Also have a medium and can't say enough good things about them.I fished the last two months of the year with them. Extremely sensitive with enough back bone in the M/H XF to muscle-em out of the thick stuff.

Put one in your hands and see for yourself.

I definately see myself matching one w/the "CORE" in the near future! ;)

Not right ;)

All jokes aside theyre both great brands, Ive even thought about getting in to shimano but Daiwa always calls me back. I may try one someday though.

I actually almost bought one of these from a tackle shop in West Virginia I believe it was, and wish I would of.   :-X

Very nice, Bassectomy! I have a Zillion paired with a Crucial, I'm glad I'm not the only one mix-matching brands like those two (Daiwa + Shimano) ;D.

I was dedicated to Shimano reels only and then had a falling out with the local tackle shop guy and took my $3000 to $4000 a year elsewhere. Just to get out of the house one day I drove 2 hours north to Northern Bass Supply in NH and then 4 hours south to Tackle Force in CT. While at tackle force they asked if I saw the new Shimano Cumara's? Showed me the only one in the shop that the shimano rep left for display. . He then says to his partner " I want to put a Zillion on one of those " and of course I had to hold it ;) "Aaaaaaaah the power of suggestion!" ;D;D Bait monkey got me for over $600 that day ::o Came home sold my Avids and 3 Curado's and bought two more Cumara's and the Revo for the light stuff. Still have a Chronarch on a Kistler Helium 2 and love it. Going to BassPro today to buy another Cumara and check out the selection of Gloomis but most likely another Cumara and Revo SX. Yet the dag-namit voices in my head are trying to convince me to go with the Shimano Core. ::);)

Staring at mine right now(drooling). Still has the tags on it. Go away ice!!! You're not welcome anymore!! Can't wait to use it. 7'2'' Med. 6-12 lb. Tuuubes!!! and an occasional shakey head.
