Which Citica?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, especially the Shimano Possee, I probably going to get a Citica tomorrow. The performance of my two Symetres and you guys have convinced me to give Shimano baitcasters a try. From my previous experience with the Revo STX, the Curado is out of my price range for testing a reel. The Revo was too small for me due to my hand dystonia.  So, which one would ya'll recommend; 100DSV, 200D, 200DPV, or 200DSV, and why? I am trying to understand the differences in these, but other than line capacity, I don't get it. I will take my MBR783 to mount in on, for feel, before I purchase. Any advice will be appreciated.

If the revo was too small then the 100 series will be too. Get the 200. The D is the regular version the DSV is the deep spool, and the DPV is the power version I think is a lower ratio 5:1. Great reel you will be happy

CI200D (6.2:1 gear ratio, 26 IPC)

The DVP is too slow for an "all-around" reel, 5.0:1 and 21 IPC is more

of a specialty reel for crankbaits (deep divers). The DSV has a deep

spool and wastes line. I have some deep spool reels and they are of

no advantage for bass fishing.

Thanks for the advice guys, but I am going to wait on the Citica. I may have to start getting left hand crank reels. I just got back from the Doc, and I am going to need surgery on my left hand. The dystonia has gotten worse over the past few weeks, and he thinks I now have carpal tunnel which is making things even worse.

Remember your question of "Why" from a short while ago?

Your response here is a good example of one of the answers to your question. What's the point of a lonely emoticon?

i like the 200 shimanos for carolina riggin, flippin n  pitchin, jigs, heavy worms, swimbaits, etc.

i like the 100's for cranks spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, jerkbaits, and light texas rigging

thats just my opinion.....

I have two of the 200Ds and one DVP.  The DVP is limited in its use as RW suggests, but it works great for deeper cranking with Norman DD22s and Bomber Fat Free Shads in the 8 - 14 and 14 - 18 depths.
