Dodgeguy, muddy man and JT are three long time members that really like Pflueger reels and especially the Summit. I'm sure you will, too. There is a lot of personal preference involved in choosing equipment and everyone has a favorite. Give the Summit a try and see what you think. Dodgeguy wouldn't steer you wrong!

8-)

I have several of the Summit reels. They are a little smaller and light than a lot of reels. I really love how they fit in my hand, just very comfortable. These babies are great crankbait reels (they work for everything, but my favorite crankbait reel).

In addition to how they feel, it is an added bonus that they look cool too.

Muddy - if you are interested there is a seller on ebay named karomt that has the following "buy it now" prices for these reels:

Summit - $105 plus $8.25 for shipping

Supreme - $115 plus $8.25 for shipping

Patriarch - $150 plus 8.25 for shippinig

these are for new reels. ;)

Thanks man: other obligations are more important now, I have a shoe box I am storing some cash in for next year, and I will decide what to do them  I am probablly gonna stick with the triond and look to turn my last 2 non Fenwick rods into Fenwicks, Time will tell :;)

I had a summit and I really liked it until it came down with a drag problem   while trying to reel in a fish so returned it and picked up the new Patriarch . Still waiting to go test that baby out on the water,

Unlike many, I use almost any brand of reel. Most are Shimano.  But let me say that Pflueger offers a very fine line of reels.  Perhaps, more bang for the buck.  Look at the IPT nuymbers on the Summit though.  The wide spooled version has IPT numbers where you would expect a "burner" type reel to be - say 30-31" per turn of the handle. The narrow spool version does not come close, even though it has the same 7:1 ratio.  The only thing that concerns me in many reels (not just Pflueger) is that of the use of a case hardened aluminum main gear.  Durability problems down the line.  Muddy, your Trions sport good solid brass/bronze gears. Should last almost forever.
