Trilene MAXX

Featured Replies

i like it pretty good too...i've used it quite a bit and haven't had any problems with it.  Good stuff.

I love it!!  I had been using Sensation and now I think the Maxx is a little bit better than that.

How does the memory and strength compare to, say, Stren Original?

I started using it last year and love it.  Didn't know it till I was fishing a club tourny one night that it is flourescent.

Maxx is the mono I always use. I've considered moving to Big Game but I have no good reason to!

Yea I like Maxx but Big Game is the best mono I've ever used but Im taking a big liking to Maxx

I tried Maxx last year and thought it blew chunks.  I thought the only difference between it and Red Cajun Advantage was the color.  I thought it was stiff and had loads of memory.

I agree with you micro, it has way to much memory.  P-Line all the way

Doesn't big game have a lot of memory though?

You are a hard man to please when it comes to fishing line. Seems like every time someone mentions a line they like you have something negitive to say about it no matter how many people love it. You seem to know what your talking about so tell us what line you feel is the best for bait casting reels. :) Mike

He asked if anyone else has tried it, and I have.  So I posted my opinion.   My opinion of it is based on my experience, not everyone elses.

I'm no expert, but I know what I like.

UM, no.  How 'bout that.  Hows about I just tell you what I don't like, and what I do - since it interests you.

I don't like Cajun, and I don't like Maxx.  I thought they felt thick, were stiff and had lots of memory.   Your experience, or opinion, may differ  :).

I do like Stren Original and Trilene XL.  It's limp, smooth, and cheap.  So I can respool and not feel like I'm wasting money.

I've recently started using Yo-Zuri Hybrid at Roadwarrior's recommendation and it's now my favorite for plastics.  It's a little stiff, but it casts well from a baitcaster, transmits vibes very nicely, and I haven't had any breakage or knot issues with it.

The Trilen XL is one I haven't tried yet and now it's on my list. I sure wish someone would come up with a mono type line that would stay limp with no memory in #15-#17 range with low abrasion and really good strength and was truly invisible in the water. Maybe some day! :) Thanks for your input , Mike

Most of those qualities are mutually exclusive.

For moving baits, I like Maxx. The bass in my avatar wrapped me around 3 stumps/branches/laydowns (let's just say wood LOL!) while I was shore fishing before I landed her. Thumbs up on the abrasion resistance! I agree with the others about the memory! For soft plastics 'n such, sensation would be my choice.

What weight Maxx are you using for Bass and are you saying it has bad memory or less memory? Why switch to Sensation for plastics ?

Nice fish in your photos! We have some nice Bass, Wally and Musky around here too but you wont find any monsters on my wall :) :) Mike

I've been using 14 and 17# Maxx. it has too much memory for me (the Maxx that is) for soft plastic applications that I use. Sensation has less memory and is easier to stay in contact with the bait.

Thanks, the bass were all released. The musky, I wasn't able to CPR so she came home to be eaten.
