I need help with that too. Definitely under $100. What is reasonable to spend on a $100 or $150 reel?

the bps johnny morris elite is an extremely light and sensitive rod ,you will love it  199.00 for the 08 model and the web site has the 07 model for 109.00

For a Reel between $100 and $150 I'd go with a Shimano Citica. The BEST reel for the price!!! Or with the rebate you can get a Curado for around $150.

For a rod I'd go with an American Rodsmiths Limit Stix. They have a nice 6' one. www.americanrodsmiths.com/Products/LimitStix/tabid/107/Default.aspx

Dude!

You're 16 years old. This might not be the best rod and you might not be an expert, yet.

I ment...

If I were to spend $100-150 on a Revo, how much should I spend on a rod?

If it were me, I'd take 100 bucks and some change and get you a St. Croix rod.  You can probably pick up a Premier for a little over 100.

Here are two I have a lot of great use out of

Either 6'6" or 7' med action

Fenwick HMX  80 bucks

BPS Extreme: they are on asle until 4/12 for just 60 bucks , a great rod for a great price usually 99 bucks!!!

My Girlfriend just got me a Cabela's Fish Eagle II, I like what I see, but I have not used it yet, we will see what the season brings!!!!!!!!

daviscw,

When you have the reel in your hands, take a trip to the local tackle shop and ask them if you can mount your reel to different setups. This way, YOU, are the one that feels the system in YOUR hands, and can detect if it is the best feel for you. There is no way anyone here is going to know for sure if a 6' rod will balance a RevoS or RevoSX and feel right in YOUR hands. This is something your going to have to do for YOURSELF.

Also you give no details as to what the system is going to be used for (t-rig, sml/jigs, etc.)

Just my .02¢

I understand, but then again, I honestly know nothing about rods! Just trying to get some help... Being a BROKE college student, I don't want to make a bad decision that will dent my wallet. I fish mostly small plastics, jigs, and spinnerbaits.

I build on St Croix blanks......

Here are a couple of rods that might work well for you, and fit your price point. When you get your new reel, take it to a tackle shop these two rods are always in the racks, mount your reel on them, and see what you think...

PC60MF 6' M Fast, Line: 10 - 17, Lure: 1/4 - 3/4, Rod Wt. 3.8,  MSRP $100.00

PC60MHF 6' MH Fast, Line: 10 - 20, Lure: 3/8 - 1, Rod Wt. 3.9,  MSRP $100.00

That's a bream and crappie rod !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My opinion is that if you are in the market to buy yourself a nice setup, I think the rod is the most important part of the setup. So, it sounds like you are around the $250 range for the total setup. Like ReelMechanic said, you'll have to find a good balanced setup that feels great in your hands. Instead of getting a $150 reel with a $100 rod, I'd flip it around and get a $150 rod with a $100 reel. You could get yourself a St. Croix Avid for around that price point. I personally don't have one and I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on St. Croix rods, but the Avid series is talked about highly on this forum. If Avid owners agree with me on this, they could provide you with a good model number for fishing jigs and plastics like you had stated you do.

I understand, thanks a lot

I like think my rod is more important a lot of the time.
