No there isn't.

I've had one for a year , so far I'M VERY PLEASED WITH IT.

if i had a dime for every time i posted asking about a reel, and was told to get a shimano instead....well, i would have about a dollar or so

;D

Sorry...

You are absolutely right.

I'm going to bed now...

Go for it, Red. I have been thinking about a Pflueger Supreme or President myself. They feel great and look incredible. I know they have had excellent reviews. Although Quantum(in the past it was Abu) seems to be dominating my tackle collection right now, I want to get a sampling of each of the major companies. Pflueger is next on my list.

yeah right now i have a revo and a daiwa(baitcasters) and recently sold of three abu C3's  so i thought i would try something new too.  i like the president too and would probebly just go with it instead but there is something about that wood knob that i dont like.

i'll tell you the truth - i have that exact reel and it is a really good reel but i also have 2 stradic's that i lot ALOT better.  hope this helps.

Josh

I have one the Supreme 8030, it weighs 7.4 oz.  Mounted on my Shimano Cumara 6'8" MH spinning rod, this is a very light weight combination.

I am very surprised how well this reel casts & it casts a very good distance.

that was another question i had, about the size.  i am guessing that the lower the number the smaller the reel.  but i was reading some reviews and one guy referred to his 8040 as an ulltra light.  i do not want an ultra light reel, but i do want a small reel that can handle bass fishing.  i was thinking about the 8030 as well.

thanks

Red, thats a good reel. I have 4 of them now (2-8035's and 2-8030's) and not one problem from any of them.

cool thanks guys, now i just have to wait for my rebate money, and also buy the stuff i need to build the rod for it!!

thanks

The 8030 is a nice reel.  If I were buying again I would get the 8035 instead.  The spool of the 8030 is a bit small for my liking.

They are definately not ultra lights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 2 of the 8030 that I use for crappie fishing all winter and bass fishing the rest of the year. This size is a good dual purpose reel but if you are going to use strictly for bass fishing you may be happier with the 8035.

I also have a 2500 Symetry that I use for the same purpose and I far prefer the Pflueger over the Shimano. Much lighter and seems to have a lot less line twist. The drag system on the two are about equal. I use 6lb line for crappie and 10lb line for bass on the 8030 without any issues.

I believe you will be happy with the Supreme..................Al

I'd go with the 8040... I've got a President that holds up to 10 lb test and couldn't be happier....

This will work best for bass fishing as you can do most of the applications with this reel....

Just for the record this is coming from someone who actually uses both the President and Symetre reels.

Isn't the 8030 more of the size of the 1500 symetre?

Just as an fyi the weight difference between the 8035 and the 2500 is just 0.7 ounces.  And the 8035 President has an ipt of 33 while the 2500 symetre is 31.
