The local paper published the results of a survey conducted by Southwick Associates (www.anglersurvey.com) in today's paper.

The results?

Top Reel Brand - Shimano (18.1% of all purchases)

Top Rod Brand - Shakespeare Ugly Stik (16.7%)

Top Line Brand - Berkley (38.5%)

The Ugly Stick always comes out on top in just about every survey I've seen.  I would like to see this survey among bass anglers only.

Well, for guys that don't fish regularly, many are looking for

something that lasts and they don't have to worry about breaking.

Have you seen the commercial where the wife beats the heck out

of the Ugly Stick before she puts in in the trash compactor?

Man, that's a great commercial even if it doesn't address any of the

qualities most of us are looking for.

The Ugly Stick is tough!

8-)

The Ugly Stick is preferred by the very casual angler.  I'm surprised Shimano was at the top for reels.  I expected Zebco spincast reels would get the nod.

Everytime my women threatens to destroy my fishing stuff, I tell her all my rods are like that.   ;D  She doesn't know any better and beleives me :).
