St Croix Avid vs. G. Loomis IMX

Featured Replies

Is there a huge difference between the St Croix Avid and G. Loomis IMX except for $75 (approximately)??? Money aside

You can't go wrong with either rod, but if I had the extra money I would get an IMX. Especially if this is going to be your primary worm rod.

If you are looking at the IMX the choice should be do I want a Legend Tourney Bass or an IMX? Then the question becomes what type of fishing do you want to do with this rod.

I've never fished w/ a IMX but I have held one in my hand and I like how the avid feels in my hand better.  Either way though, I've never heard anything bad about either rod.

I have both rods, would say the IMX is the better of the two and it is well worth the money.

Both are excellent rods though.

Of my nine rods, five are St. Croix including three Avids.

I recommend getting the G. Loomis IMX.

8-)

This is a silly comparison.  If you are going to compare a St. Croix and a Loomis you should compare models in the same price range.

Lets compare 7' Medium Heavy casting rods from both compaines.

GL3  $215

Avid $180

IMX  $255

LT    $230

They are all great rods and can't go wrong with any of them.  I am partial to one of these brands but I own rods from both.

It's pretty significant; I'd throw down for the IMX.

Me too.
