which Loomis IMX should i buy?

Featured Replies

im looking to buy an G Loomis IMX spinning rod. This rod will be primarily for soft plastics. 1/8 - 1/4 oz jigs, 1/8 - 1/4 oz worm weights for t-rigs and maybe 5" senkos. what model would you recommend for me?

thanks in advance

I would go with the SJR783 or SJR843, depending on which length you like better.

But in the end, any IMX you get will be awesome.

why do you guys recommend the medium heavy over the medium if i will be fishing 1/8 - 1/4 oz baits?

just curious.

thanks again

The 843 gives you more flexibility.  You can still fish light lures, but I suspect your average weight is greater than you think. A 1/4 oz jig with a trailer is going to approach 1/2 oz.

A 5" senko is anything but "light", with hook it weights around 3/8 oz, thus, you need a heavier rod without sacrificing the ability to cast 1/8 oz baits.

I'd say save a bit of money, and get a Dobyns 703. I've noticed ZERO different in sensitivity, and the Dobyns rods are just plain awesome.

Can't go wrong with either, just trying to throw out extra options.

Just got the SJR902,  7.5 feet medium .  Check it out and read the write up on it.
