Budget jig/worm rod and reel combo?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I tried a search on jig/worm rods but all the recommendations were a bit pricey for me.  I'm looking for a decent jigging/worm baitcasting combo in the 150/200 dollar range.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

id save up a little more and get a high quality reel.

id buy a shimano or st. croix rod. ive seen the shimano crucial rods highly recommended on this site and theyre about 125 bucks.

Thinking along the same lines as Catt. The Reels I own, and recommend in your price range:

Abu Garcia C3 & C4

Abu Garcia Revo S

Daiwa TD-Pro

As for the rod, I have a couple Quantum KVD signature Series Rods that are nice rods for the $79.99 price tag.

I would put more of your money on the rod.  You could spend up to $150 on the rod and still have $50 left for a good used reel.  Unless you just hate round reels I would get one of the 4600 Ambassaduers.  It would be a good reel now and later on you could make it better (bearings, drags, etc)
