This reel has a great value (80.00) and great features is it a gimmick?

This good-looking Purist Casting Reel from Pflueger offers bass anglers a great value in quality baitcasting reels. The Pflueger Purist features an incredible 8 bearing system that supports the entire drive train for smooth casting and retrieving. The Purist Casting Reel uses a graphite frame, sideplates, and line guide to keep costs and weight down. The machined aluminum spool is drilled to reduce weight but remains significantly heavier than spools on more expensive reels. This weight will reduce the reel's ability to cast or pitch extremely light lures and with the absence of a magnetic or centrifugal fine braking system this reel will do well casting heavier lures. Put one of these value-packed Pflueger Purists Casting Reels on your next spinnerbait rod for a great low cost combo.

I can't say that I've had one in my hands. I believe I've seen where people who use Pfluegers had said this one is kind of a dud. But I'm not 100% sure so check the internet for reviews.

I love Pflueger reels, I am a FLOOGER MOOK. that being said; This reel is horrible! Everyone I know who bought them here in my neck of PA m, thats about a half a dozen guys , don't own them anymore.

I am not one to talk from other peoples opinions so I borrowed the one my friend Danny bought , after just 5 trips

The Reel was making an almost grinding sound on the cast with Jitterbugs

Using the same rod I could not get near the same distance throwing a 5 inch Trick Stick

The Drag was not fluid and smooth

I know this is blasphamey on here but the Eschleon is a much better buy in the lower end of Flooger

It is not until you get around to the Trions. Asaro and Presidents do you see the real great reels Flooger makes

I agree with the trion. I just got my first Trion and I can't put it down.  I have the wide spool cranking for now but plan on putting it on al my combos.  I will never go back to graphite though I had one and it didn't work well plus I hear the gears go out with a graphite

I have the Pflueger Intensity, a Dick's exclusive which is nothing more than a Purist with a red paintjob and different name.

I like it and have had no problems with mine yet. I find it smooth and quiet and have caught over 50 smallmouth on it so far. $80.00 is a bit much though. My Intensity came in a combo with an All-Star rod for $90. I think I like the rod better than the reel, it was a great surprise and really sold me on the All-Star line of rods.

That is the same combo as Cabelas.

Actually it is a Red Eschelon, with a different name on an All Star Instinct

Nice one. I guess we should get right down to it though...

...skip the Pflueger and the Shimano and get an Abu Garcia, then you're done with the searching.
