Im sure its been covered but my search tatics arnt very good.   I just picked up some power-pro braid and I planned on using the Trilene for a backing on my Curado's.  What would be the best knot to use to join them and is the KVD line conditioner a must on the power pro or dont use it at all?

uni to uni works for me.

He is not being facetious. if you put a piece of double sided tape on the spool and then tie the braid around it. It will have something to bite into and not slip around the spool.

Also I find powerpro very manageable right out of the box no need for any conditioner but it probably wouldn't hurt.

I got 50lb....can I use this stuff for spinning gear as well as my casters?

I use #50 on my bc's but it might be a little thick for spinning reels. My only experiance with braid and spinning reels was with a smaller saltwater reel and i used #20 and it worked good. I hope this helps.

i use blue painters masking tape and and i just tape the line to the spool and reel.  no backing, no knot, easy and fast.  been doing this for a couple of years and works great.

Guys.......he's putting Trilene line on FIRST as backing then using a KNOT to connect the Trilene backing and Power Pro.

Tape is ok for direct braid to spool........

Like already mentioned, a blood knot or double uni knot will do the job.

Using a less expensive backing line is a good way to conserve some of your expensive line.

One little thing I do, I take a red marker and mark the knot. I can then look at a spool and see that I'm getting close to re-spooling time.

Works better for a mono to flouro connection or lines of similar color of course. With braid to clear line you can simply see your getting close .

I do the same thing when I am using braid.  Cheap mono backing and about 2 or 3 times what a good casts length would be of power pro, joined with a uni to uni knot.

I've been using the double uni knot for years and have never had one fail.  Pretty easy to tie as well.

normally I dont tie knot to knot, so if I do a uni do I make 1 first then tie the other into it n pull em tight?

Definitely use KVD Line & Lure on Braid. It will keep the finish the factory applies to the line intact much longer. Which means the line will last longer before it starts to loose color and fray. It also will keep braids from picking up minerals from the water. It is the minerals that make braid abrasive and wear on guides and the line itself.

A good knot for mono to braid connections is tie a Uni with the mono on the braid then you corkscrew the braid up the mono 15 times while keeping your finger in the loop made with the first turn of the braid over the mono. Corkscrew the braid down again over the mono and braid 10X and slip tag end through the loop you kept open. Wet and tighten. Holds 100%.  

It is the minerals that make braid abrasive and wear on guides and the line itself.

The braid cuts the mono in my experience!  

BARON49, that was discussed over a month ago on a thread about rod tip groving and braid. Fishing in muddy water a lot has the most effect since the many fibers of braid will hold the water suspended sand particles. The sand particles are harder than most of the less expensive rod guide inserts.
