Green Reel + Purple Rod = Ugly Duckling???

Featured Replies

I got these for Christmas and was planning on putting my SX on this rod and using my Pro Qualifier LTD with the Curado till I could pick up a Cumara. Since they both were unpaired I thew them together to get a feel for both. I just knew they would be absolutely scary looking together , Well I don't feel that way anymore.

what do ya think? Ugly Duckling  or Swan!

I know how you feel. I will have an E7 on a Carrot. It reminds me of a clown...

I'll take your ugly ducklings if you need to purge yourself of the ugliness.

Who cares what it looks like? This ain't no fashion show.

How does it feel? That's the question.

Feels great and will stay together for awhile I'm guessing! I care about looks because I don't like to spend money on ugly...Something I picked up on when I first started dating, If its gonna be with you awhile you might want to make sure you can stand to look at it! ;D JMO

Get rid of that clear line put some green or red line on it ;)

I agee! those are probably the strangest colors I've personally had together.

If you think you can come up with a crazier or uglier set up I'd like to see it!

Good Idea MR! Some orange line might really set it off!

It's hideous.

But I still wouldn't mind having it and/or fishing it.

I Agreed with Firefightin, It is a little nose heavy and had me concerned and considered taking it back to BPS, but after I put the reel on it and a Jig to make some casts in the front yard I didn't feel a balance problem at all, It seems plenty light and designed for maximum sensitivity, the split grip feels awesome and has me looking at a Carrot and a Cumara in the future. I haven't fished it yet but I have no plans on getting rid of it, as of now i feel it may end up being one of my favorite rods. It just feels too good in my hand! If you don't have a split grip rod yet you need to give one a try, I hear their not for everyone but I know a lot of people will love them.

Some of you people worry far too much about how things look.

Still loving that paint job on the Curado.  Nice setup.

If it feels great, casts great, and is sensative enough, looks shouldn't matter.  I plan on getting some St. Croix Mojo's and putting some Shimano Curados and Citicas on them.  Plus the color gives it some character. ;D

I used to go clubbing with a guy whose motto was "Go ugly early!"

Hmmm, haven't tasted any of my rods or reels. Might have to give that a try next time I need a snack.

RW grinding with a girl and doing the Cha Cha Slide....

As for the combo........all I can think of is Barney the Dinosaur.

Why is it so bad that someone who is spending $300 on a setup should care about the looks or the color? All successful companies produce products that are ugly right? Aesthetics are one of the most important parts of making a product appealing to the consumer. We are all consumers so we must assume that good looking products must appeal to the majority of people on this forum, I'm one of them.

Now if I could just find a orange boat with yellow polka dots to go with this combo!!!!! ;):)

Ranch makes a great line conditioner and can fend off hunger on a long days fishing!!!!

Tin, Thats funny you said that , Barney was the first thing I thought of too ;D

Cravin, enjoy! ;)  Agree with Maxximus Redneckus, try a green trilene xl

RW, hope your bud don't mind, but I may borrow that motto for a spell.

Add a blue rod handle wrap, cajun red line, orange reel handles and one of 5 bass limits yellow rod sleeves and you can call yourself the "Rainbow warrior angler" ;)

X2, man .... clear line on a metallic green/purple combo looks like S*T !.
