Best All Around Crankin' Rod

Featured Replies

What is the best all around crankbait rod out there that can handle numerous different styles of crankbait fishing?

For my money it is the BPS Crankin stick, on sale right now for 40 bucks.  The sale ends Jan 31st.

i have five crankin' rods and my most versatile one is the lamiglas XCF705R (same as the skeet reese SR705R except for the color of the blank). sometimes crankin' rods don't have enough tip for rippin' lipless cranks but this is perfect for that. but, it also throws billed cranks from speedtraps to DD22s great. i even work topwater and spoons on mine. if you want one that can throw bigger cranks and blades as well, i'd recommend the powell 754CB. if you want a really versatile graphite composite crankin' stick, then i'd recommend the powell 765CB. i do have BPS crankin' stick in 7'10" and it's a great rod for the money but it is not "the best".

I just bought one of those BPS crankin sticks, i like it for the money, im also a fan of the powerhump for casting continuously.

Lamiglas 705R is my favorite cranking rod. Another one for big cranks and ripping lippless cranks out of grass is the Powell 754 CB. I perfer Loomis rods, but for cranking I tend to stick with Powell.  However, the Loomis 845 has a great following and is worth considering.

I only have a BPS Crankin Stick but it is a great rod for the price...especially when on sale like now

Loomis CBR845

That thing is super light and is just a great feeling rod.

My "all around" treble hook rod is a St. Croix Avid AVC66MF

which has a soft tip. This is a great rod for working jerkbaits

and topwater, but is also suited for medium weight crankbaits,

buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. This rod is saddled with the Core.

My dedicated crankbait rod is an Avid AVC70MM. This is perfect

for light and medium weight lures. The Moderate Action allows this

rod to load up and cast a mile. Mine is matched up with a Metanium.

For all heavy treble hook lures and especially deep divers, the

Lamiglas SR705R is THE BOMB! It was on sale at Cabelas

for $169, but is now $200. Still, this is a great stick.

8-)

I have a G-Loomis CBR and a parabolic carrot stick.  I use the carrot stick more and personally like it better than the loomis.

I use All Star GT2's right now but you just can't go wrong with a BPS Cranking stick.  Easily the best rod for the money they make.
