BPS Pro Qualifier vs Citica 200E

Featured Replies

I'm probably going to order the new St. Croix mojo 7' Medium action for t-rigs. I can't decide what reel to put on it between these 2. Which would be better for what I'm going to use it for or is there a different reel I should be looking at in this price range (100$)?

Both are really nice reels.  I have a Pro Qualifier reel and love it but parts are hard to come by I think.  The new Citicas get really great reviews - I'd have to get that new Citica if it were me.  You can get the Citica online for $105 shipped which comes out basically the same price as a ProQ.  Best of luck.

BPS has the Extreme on clearance right now for $50. Just picked up one today. Just hope my order gets processed before they are sold out.

I can't speak to the BPS reel, but the new Citica E is one sweet reel for the price.  It would be hard to beat IMHO.

I have two Citica's and they are SWEET! And I think they would hold up longer then the BPS. ;)

There shouldn't even be a question.

Why not?

That Pro Qualifier is a Pure fishing built reel.  It's got REvo written all over it.

Citica E - 3 bearings, Cent. brake. $119.95

PQ - 7 bearings, dual braking, swept handle. $99.95

I'd go with the PQ reel no question.

You cant go wrong with the Citica.  As stated it is very similar in every way to the new Curado.

Later, ;)

I own a Citica E and a D. The E is noticeably smoother than the D. It is also smaller, lighter, and sturdier feeling than the D. It casts extremely well. Shimano has taken the effort to improve all of their new editions but I think the Citica is the one that has improved the most (and has remained the same price as well) and Tackle Tour seems to agree. FWIW, I haven't used a PQ but they seem to be better built than some of BPS' other reels.

When it comes time for maintenance, the Citica will win.  Its more durable, and features much better build quality.  No contest, really.

I have a Citica E and its a great reel! But I love the PQ rods and I think for my next purchase Im gunna go with the PQ combo which is like getting the PQ reel for $50. But If I wasnt getting a PQ rod I might go with the citica because its probably a little better built and its 1oz lighter. ;)

-nick-, as you can see there are reasons to buy either of these reels.  Why don't you attach each of the reels to the rod you are buying and see how they feel in terms of balance on the rod and fit to your hand?  Personally, I like Citicas but that's because I've had good experiences with Shimano.  For you, the choice may be completely different.

I own both and Citica E is by far the best.  I've only had mine for 2 days and it is my new favorite reel even when I compare it my Chronarch D.
