Quantum Code

Featured Replies

I was looking at a Quantum Code reel. Does anyone have one and are they any good? I see Cabelas has them and a Tourney trail rod for $79.99. Wal-Mart has the reel alone for $110.00.

to be honest i really like my code but if i was to do it all over again i would spend a little more and upgrade tyo the energy, it casts a lot better then the code and is just smoother. but all in all there is nothing wrong with the code its a good cheap reel.

I had one for about 1-1/2 hours of fishing, when it started screeching horribly. I returned it the same day. Not a great reel for the money.

I wouldn't pull the trigger on that reel. It will become more of a problem the longer you fish. I've fished it and it's not worth the money.

I would reccomend looking for a good used reel.

If your interested I have last year's Quantum Tour Edition PT Burner used probably 50 times I"ll let go for $80 plus shipping. Now that's a quality reel. Let me know but overall don't buy this reel.

I love my Quantum reels (Accurists and Energy's mostly). I was curious about the code and checked it out when I was at BPS. I'm not a big fan of the Code, it just didn't feel good to me. Personally, I'd either follow backwoodbassfishin's advice and get a good used reel or save up and buy a Catalyst, Energy or a Tour. Last year's models are still available and are on sale, so there's another option as well.

ive got two of them, on 7'2 med action allstar ASR's that are my jerkbait, ripbait, chatterbait rods. I have had no problems out of them whatsoever. They cast great, have no back play, and are strong on the drag.

Keep in mind, Quantum has 2 different Codes out: the Code and the Code Red.

The Code:

8-Bearing drive system

ACSII adjustable centrifugal cast control [info]

One-piece, lightweight composite frame

Ultralight MaxCast skeletal spool

Titanium-nitride line guide

Flippiin switch

Continuous Anti-Reverse

The Code Red:

10-Bearing drive system

ACSII adjustable centrifugal cast control [info]

One-piece, lightweight composite frame

Ultralight MaxCast skeletal spool

Titanium-nitride line guide

Flippiin switch

That's where the price difference comes into play. Hope that helps some.

At walmart it is the regular 8 bearing code for 110 which is not bad but I would not have bought one if it were over 100....the code red retails for 99
