A few different threads mentioned braid's sensitivity and I think there is a little confusion, so rather than go off topic in those, we'll start over. The following is just my opinion.

Everyone says that braid is so sensitive. While that's true, I think it's misunderstood by many and here is why...

Braid amplifies everything equally... your bite is still as subtle (or as big) as it was when compared to hitting a rock, stick, grass, etc. So unless you just had trouble feeling things in general, braid rarely adds to your fish count. You'll still be unsure if it was a stick or a fish, you'll just feel it "louder" or more pronounced. Now for those that don't have very sensitive hands, I agree that a higher "volume" alone can be helpful.

If it made a real difference in fish catching, every tourney angler on earth would use it and no one with mono could ever win.

Having said all that, I do think braid does have advantages in certain applications, it's just not the universal cure.

I agree with this as well! When i first used braid a few weeks ago i was expecting a HUGE change in sensitivity because of what i have heard! I found it no different than fluoro for feeling what the lure touches! It is better than mono though.

 What about for baits with a few treble hooks hanging from them and topwater, I like mono in these situations

agreed muddy..... the "give" of mono helps greatly in those situations, but with a little time..... braid is effective as well..... its just really hard to take that extra second or three before setting the hook!  (but practice makes it possible)...

and by no means is braid the answer to all situations....... i just use it in all instances, likely foolishly.... but its fine for me!

I use braid for red eyes, or traps because mono has to much stretch. I use mono on top water, and floro for the rest. I used to throw heavy braid in cover but a floro in the 17lb range works well for me.

just remember when you go from a mono to a braid....dont set the hook to hard or youll have fish lips flying at your head @ 80 mph  

I use 10# braid on 4 freshwater outfits and braid on 8 saltwater 10-15-20#, I use no mono at all, except on drift boats and only because they frown on it, tangling with mono is a nightmare.

I use braid for all applications and all species of fish, I find it superior in every aspect.  For me " CASE CLOSED ! "

That was happening w/ my Fiance..he 'd rip the hook right out using the braid, whereas I would give a little less of a hookset and started bringing more fish into the boat. I was just not getting a good hookset with the mono and loosing them when they started thrashing near the boat.
