Line Conditioners

Featured Replies

I ordered a few of the KVD Line and Lure Samples (very cheap to try). I Use it on Trilene XL and Gamma fluorocarbon (spinning reels). The stuff is nothing short of awesome! Makes the line cast and feel like silk to me. Needless to say, I ordered the full size bottle, and will NEVER go without it. I tested treated and non treated line, and the difference was amazing to me. No line twist at all, and I would guess I gained 20% in casting distance. My fishing buddy is now hooked on the stuff as well. This is my own personal experience with Line and Lure.

I have never used a line conditioner they may or may not work.

What does work for sure is plain old hot tap water and it's free.

Case in point, the other day I went on drift boat with a 7000 series reel spooled with inexpensive 20# mono, that had been presoaked before spooling 2 years ago and the reel unused for about 8 months.

No coiling off the spool and the line performed flawless.  I have yet to meet an every day saltwater fisherman that uses a conditioner, they only soak their line in a bucket of water.

I can't see using mono line in freshwater would require anything more than a good preosoak in warm water.

It even works on braid.

The link for the KVD conditioner also makes this claim. What benefits do you all notice when using it on braid . . . . easier casting, fewer backlashes, etc?

I'm usually flipping and pitching heavy cover with braid so I don't know if I would notice any benefit.

I had a sample bottle that I gave to my brother-in-law to try on his braid and now he is buying his own so he can add it to all of his rods. He could tell a difference on the length of cast and smoothnest of the cast. He also knows when he has to add a little bit more because his casting quaility goes down.

im surprised that so many cant tell a difference with kvd. i love the stuff.

X2!   As soon as my line starts holding spool memory I spray it on and next day it poker straight! Casting a mile and not over-running...I cant believe it doesn't do that for some people.

Everytime I get a new reel or respool I use Blakemores reel magic. IMO it really does give a little distance and nearly eliminates line memory. I am a firm believer in this product.
