mono/flouro/braid?

Recommended Posts

I am just getting started and trying to learn some of the tricks and facts about how to get the most out of my tackle! I know you guys are experienced and could help me so my question is what do you use mono/flouro/braid line for generally on your lures? I can't remember which is best used for cranking, spinnerbaits, which is more buoyant, etc...

Everyone is going to have a different opinion. It all varies by the local water we all fish. I crank with FC, topwater on mono, braid for frogs and maybe flipping/pitching depending on water color/visibility.

Typically people use FC for jigs/worms or any down baits. Mono for reaction baits and braid for the thick stuff like grass and timber. YMMV

As Bantam1 noted, there are certain lines recommended for a

variety of conditions. On the other hand, you can keep it simple:

Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb breaking strength)

Baitcasting gear: Hybrid #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb breaking strength)

8-)
