  1. 6'6" medium baitcast or spinning on 8-10 lb line. I like the 5 inch size on 4/0 ewg
  2. I like sensation and should work just fine on spinning reels - I have 8# on mine and they are size 20
  3. I saw it on clearance at gander mtn - that explains it.
  4. Is there certain brands of gas that don't have the ethenol mix people keep talking about that can harm the outboard?
  5. any feedback I was wondering if they are any good as well or do they have flaws in their action?
  6. I have used usps and so far so good but always pay for the insurance. UPS and Fed Ex probably handle it better. I have shipped about 6 rods and have had 1 that was broke in shipping and luckly I had insurance w/ USPS. Worked out ok but it is a hassle.
  7. Ive heard they are ok and thought about buying one to try but with the weights of the new higher end reels coming down to under 8 oz with Al frames I think I will go that way (Quantum). $30 is a good deal though so it is worth a try.
  8. I have a Quarrow spinning rod. It is light and pretty sensitive. I have heard bad things about their service but I have not had to deal with them.
  9. Yes those big smallies can be a heartbreaker when see a big pig doing acrobat tricks. Awesome sight but it seems they can send your bait right out of their mouths too.
  10. Almost any name brand rod and reel is going to be ok to learn on. Just don't buy the reels that retail for under $35 new, they are usually pretty cheaply built reels. Check out buying a used combo from someone. Learn using a limp mono line like trilene XL wouuld be my opinion
  11. early spring when water temp is below 65 is my favorite time but they work good in the fall as well. Smallies seem to throw the bait pretty easy so be prepared.

keel weighted hook in 4/0. less line twist is also nice. If you don't want to spend the $$ for weighted hooks use a nail inserted into the body of the fluke
  13. like Marty said, but I always check to see if the line twists by stopping and giving some slack. If it is I flip the spool over for a bit and check again.
  14. I like fluoro on finesse spinning 8lb fluoro for worm fishing braid for frog fishing or real nasty flippin mono for cranking and topwater
  15. go with a 1 piece if you don't have issues with transporting them. I always hated the rod coming apart on a cast.
  16. on the side so the flat part of the bait rides on the water
  17. tuning it by the sound of it as described above
  18. Got me some and it looks white. Have not checked it out in water to see how much it disappears. I bought the 10lb test which is like 2 or 4 lb diameter so it should disappear. Hopefully it is strong.
  19. Berkley sensation seems to work good for me Stren original and XL mono Never tried Suffix maybe I should
  20. They seem to work great. Some of the online stores have them for unde $6
  21. Tubes seem to produce all the time it seems. Drop shot and if they are aggressive jerkbait or spinerbait and that is some real fun.

they do sometimes still work in the summer although I like them best when the water is pretty cool. REmember the Classic on the 3 rivers in Pittsburgh. It was in August I think and KVD was throwing jerkbaits
  23. 3.5 inch size w/ exposed hook (tube jig head)
