right now , i have a 6'6" light fast spinning rig and a 6' medium/fast BC rig. im stuck between a medium spinning rig or a mh BC rig with a smaller round reel like an abu 4601. trying to stay under $100. im open to suggestions.

id keep a close eye on the flea market.

2 rods that id buy under $70 are the BPS Extreme and the Berkley Shock.

I would def get a MH setup. Just my opinion, and it may not be .02

i would def. get a 7' MH Baitcaster rod

im in the same boat, i think ive pretty much decided im gonna get a bps extreme 7' MH fast rod and reel combo they are have on sale for $100, i figure i can use the BPS reel until it fails and then get a decent reel, but im already getting a nice rod for the price

good stuff. thats what i was leaning towards also. just gotta keep an eye open on the bay and in the flea market.

The BPS reels don't get much love here but they are far more than a cheap reel, with proper upkeep and care it should last you awhile. 

A 7 foot MH casting will be the most versatile set up you could buy. At least it will allow you to fish spinnerbaits, medium weight jgs, buzzbaits and most any plastics. There are a number of surprizingly good reels in the 40 to 50 buck range if you shop around. I had a local tackle shop run the AG Black Maxx for only $29.97 on a two day sale. Merry Christmas !!

is that6'6'' lite by chance clarus ??? if it is , those rods are great !!! i want to get another but i think im going to get one custom made , but try to replicate the action and power of the clarus ...

yes it is. excellent rod for the money. it will probably get moved to drop shot and light shaky head duty.

No kidding. Maintain that Extreme reel and it should last you good long while.

you already have a light and a medium.

a mh would give you more options.
